The Ligny Tower, an imposing watchtower that was built in 1761 and houses the Museum of Prehistory, stands on the extreme tip of Trapani. Since the 16th century, this town has been famed for the precious coral works made by skilled artisans. See a collection of fine coral works at the Pepoli Museum, inside the old Carmelite monastery. Nearby is the Santuario dell'Annunziata, which houses a beautiful 14th-century marble statue of the Madonna of Trapani.
