Scrabster is a harbor town and the most northern port on the UK’s mainland. Originally a Norse settlement, it is now a flourishing fishing village with excellent sailing and surfing opportunities. Perhaps of greatest note is the lighthouse found on Holborn Head, dating to the 1800s. In nearby Thurso, visitors will find Thurso Castle, the ruins of a Norse fortress; Thurso Heritage Museum; a war memorial; and the ruins of Old St. Peter’s Church and burial ground.
