Sangalaki Island, Indonesia
The tiny island of Sangalaki is home to the Black Manta Ray and thousands of sea turtles that pull themselves ashore each night to dig nests and lay eggs. Visitors may have the opportunity to spot freshly hatched baby turtles struggle down the sand and into the sea, look straight into a manta ray’s mouth or touch a stingless jellyfish. A walk around the island takes a mere 30 minutes, but its remoteness is a welcome treat to visitors who are searching for tranquil surroundings and amazing experiences.
